On a cold chilly November morning, I was juggling a cake in one hand and my bag in another..
25th November, my dads birthday and I had planned a surprise for him...
But like all good plans this one was also filled with obstacles first it being Sunday, the day when trains running from Mumbai are shut down for maintenance and fewer lines resulting into huge crowd. 2nd being  BSP rally which permitted every one to get on any train without ticket..
so here I was in a congested ladies only compartment, leaning over a fish ice box and trying not to throw up..
ladies were nosy, bossy dames with loud voices and bully attitude..
with all the pushing and swearing.. entered a sweet looking guy.. hassled and lost..
and then things went all Bollywood on me..
The lights became soft, his outline was enhanced..
Violins and saxophones did a soulful jazz in my ears..
Tall, endearingly gawky.. he all but screamed GEEK!!
ah! those specs, those lost expressions and bulky sweater..
fell for him in less than a new york minute..
Man! he was sweet and sexy.. I like.. :D
but dear old me back then wasn't changed much.. I still couldn't talk to guys and still felt too ugly to take the initiative..
He was a virgin traveler it seemed completely oblivious of the fact that he was in a ladies only..

He looked at me, only sane looking person (maybe) in the entire bogie..
Suddenly i wanted to help him.. so i bulliedfew ladies for him and let him stow his bags in one corner..
Of course once the deed was done, I had nothing to talk to him... AWKWARD! WAY awkward...
So began marathon of coy glances and blushes...
It was too crowded to actually look at each other so I stood near basin and kept peering in the mirror above the sink, occasionally our eyes met and we blushed..
A gentleman suddenly had a chivalrous inspiration and gave me his seat at the door and i did..
Train neared my intended station and i got up to arrange my luggage and the guy asked said hesitantly."getting out?" Equally nervous I just nodded and made my voice box to mutter "Yeah" oh he had such a nice voice..!! soft, bit husky.. and eyes beyond that geeky specs were soft, warm brown..
He was eating a orange mentos and offered me one, in a trance i accepted.. train rolled to a halt and I had to alight. i trudged reluctantly forward and he asked,as nervous as i was "can i tell you something??" i again nodded.. He smiled, a crooked smile as if it amused him to say it.. "You have a beautiful smile and a very nce heart"
Dazed i alighted and kept looking at him..An Mad, idiot, stupid, moron that i am.. I actually, i swear actually said.. Thanks! oh happy Diwali.. he grinned and kept on grinning till he became nothing but a speck on a moving train.. I don't even know his name!! i now nothing about him and still gave him a piece of my heart.. To this day am waiting for my piece to come....
It was beautiful even if it was anonymous..
Two strangers who shared a beautiful, golden, shining moment....
Hope he reads it and recognizes me..
